The best time to travel to Indonesia is during the dry season, stretching from April to October! You’ll have warm weather and blue skies without a cloud in sight.
November to March marks the wet season in Indonesia. Temperatures are still warm, but the islands experience torrential downpours almost daily. If you don’t mind all the rain, you will find cheaper deals on accommodations and flights, as well as fewer tourists at most attractions.
Getting Around
The best way to get around Indonesia is by motorbike! I highly recommend Bikago for bike rentals – they offer drop off and pick up! Larger cities can have a good bit of traffic, so if you aren’t comfortable on a bike I would recommend hiring a private driver or using Grab/Gojek (Indonesian Uber) to get around!
PHONE COVERAGE |Telkomsel is the largest carrier – I recommend using their eSim.
CURRENCY | Indonesia Rupiah
PLUG | Type C
Sustainable + Ethical Travel in Indonesia
Always choose local – accommodations, restaurants, tours, etc!
Consider staying at an eco resort! Have your hotel change out towels every other day instead of every day, and turn off AC when leaving for the day.
Be mindful of Canang Sari, offerings placed outside of homes and businesses to honor the Gods of the Hindu faith. As you walk around, be sure to never step on or over these as it is disrespectful and incredibly bad luck!
Temples often require a dress code (cover shoulders and knees), and menstruating women are often not allowed in some areas of the temple. Check the guidelines before you go!
