I highly recommend visiting Greece during the shoulder seasons – April/May or September/October.
Peak season runs from June to August, where you’ll see beautiful weather but higher prices and more crowds. Some places (such as the Santorini) become virtually impassible.
Winters in Greece (December-March) are mild, but most Greek islands close their hotels and businesses during the winter months.
Visiting during April/May or September/October will offer you beautiful weather with fewer crowds and lower prices!
Getting Around
The best way to get between Greek islands is by ferry or plane! I recommend using FerryHopper to book ferries.Β
To get around on the islands, you can rent a car or an ATV. We rented an ATV in Mykonos and it was an absolute blast! As for the towns, most are walkable. In fact, many of them don’t even have roads for cars – just walking paths!
Travel Requirements
There are currently no special certificates or applications to enter Greece, your passport will do!
If you plan on renting a car or an ATV during your time in Greece, make sure you get an International Driver’s Permit prior to arrival.

SUSTAINABLE + ETHICAL TRAVEL IN GREECE
Support local businesses – hotels, tours, and restaurants! This helps contribute to Greece’s economy, and choosing local cuisine lowers your environmental footprint – plus Greek food is delicious!
Respect historical sights and monuments such as the Acropolis – do not touch the art or buildings as the oil on our fingers can wear down the materials.
Avoid contributing to overtourism by visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall). This is especially important on the ever-popular Santorini!
