If you’re visiting Finland for the beautiful landscapes, you’re best off visiting in May to September for lovely weather. You’ll see lots of sunny days, with temperatures of 50-75°F (10-24°C). Due to Finland’s position so far north, you can get up to 24 hours of sunlight a day – aka, the sun never sets!
Winters are quite cold and quite long here. However, if you’re traveling to Finland to experience Lapland and see the Northern Lights, the best time to visit is December to March! Instead of 20+ hours of sunlight, you’ll only get a few hours of sunlight a day. This makes for the perfect conditions for seeing the aurora! Lapland is known for it’s winter activities, so this is the perfect time to visit the county if you’re looking for a winter wonderland getaway!

If you don’t feel comfortable driving, Uber runs here and is very affordable!

SUSTAINABLE + ETHICAL TRAVEL IN FINLAND
Animal tourism is huge here. Please do extensive research into the companies you book your husky and reindeer experiences with, and make sure they take excellent care of their animals. Generally, you’ll find pretty good conditions for the working animals in Finland!
Travel to Lapland via air or via rail! Every airport in Finland is carbon neutral, so flying is a better option vs driving!
Stick to marked hiking trails and always use each trail for it’s purpose: there’s separate trails for hikers, skiers, and snowmobiles!
